Brighter brickwork!

Tired of looking at boring brickwork, sisters Sophie and Emily Watts had an idea to brighten up their garden – and soon earned them commissions to brighten up their neighbours’ too!

“They decided to start chalking our path to brighten up the street, they then had so many lovely comments that our neighbours asked them to do theirs, too,” said mum Leanne Crowley. “The walls took around nine hours and they used about 60 big chalks.”

Sadly the recent rain has muted some of the colourful work, on Acres Way, Thorpe Marriott, but Leanne said that the girls, aged eight and 11, were happy and proud to see so many people smiling at their artwork – especially younger children.

“They are both very arty girls and really enjoyed doing something to brighten up our street.”
