Valentine’s Day is all about finding your perfect match – and Victory Housing Trust is launching a new initiative on 14th February to help its residents do just that.  But rather than being about finding their perfect partner, it is playing matchmaker to help social housing residents find their perfect home.

The Trust is launching a series of five ‘speed-dating’ events in association with home-swap experts House Exchange, to help residents looking to move to find others with whom they could swap homes.

The initiative is designed to help those who are looking to up- or down-size, as well as those looking to live in a different location, either within the north of Norfolk or elsewhere.

Five events in March will enable residents to access property listings, as well as expert advice on how to find the ‘perfect match’ using exchange websites.

“As people’s lives change, they sometimes find that the home they are living in is no longer totally suitable for their needs,” said John Archibald, chief executive of Victory Housing.

“Perhaps they have a growing family and need more room; or else children have left home and they find themselves living in a home which is too big for them – with the added issue of the bedroom tax.  Or perhaps they want to move somewhere else, to be closer to family, for example, or to be able to access employment.

“There are now sophisticated and powerful tools to help match them with others who are also looking to move, and we have been working with one of the leading experts in the field, House Exchange, to bring these tools to our residents and make them accessible.

“Just as dating websites have transformed the way that many people find partners, so the internet is a powerful tool to helping social housing residents find the perfect match – so we thought that Valentine’s Day was a very appropriate day on which to launch the initiative!”

The five events take place across north Norfolk in the week commencing 10th March, as follows:

  • Monday 10th March, 6pm-8pm: Victory Housing Trust, North Walsham
  • Tuesday 11th March, 9.30am-11.30am: The Lawns Hotel, Holt
  • Wednesday 12th March, 6pm-8pm: The Two Lifeboats, Sheringham
  • Thursday 13th March, 9.30am-11.30am: Wensum Lodge Hotel, Fakenham
  • Friday 14th March, 9.30am-11.30am: The Kings Head, Hoveton

The events will enable residents to browse available properties, as well as receive advice on the best way to promote their own property, and how to use exchange websites.
