He was the coolest of the cool on TV and now The Fonz, aka actor Henry Winkler, is coming to Aylsham.

Henry’s work on television and film has earned him numerous awards and instant recognition as The Fonz but his visit Norfolk will focus on his inspiration to become a children’s book author.

He will be speaking at an evening event on Wednesday, March 6, at Aylsham Jubilee Centre, 7 for 7.30pm.

Henry holds the welfare of children close to his heart, championing the cause for literacy and education.

He was awarded an honorary OBE for services to children with special educational needs and dyslexia in the UK. Henry himself  is dyslexic, although this was not diagnosed until he was 31 when his stepson was tested.

He had an unhappy time at school due to his difficulties with reading. This inspired him to write his series of books about Hank Zipzer, “the world’s greatest underachiever” whose good intentions have disastrous and hilarious results.
The visit has been arranged through North Norfolk Children’s Book Group in conjunction with Norfolk Children’s Book Centre.

“Henry’s visit promises to be an exciting and insightful evening and we are sure that it will appeal to parents and children alike,” said the centre.

To book places for the evening, call the centre on 01263 761402. Admission is free for North Norfolk Children’s Book Group members, otherwise adults are £3, children £1.
