Roy Davenport’s long-held dream will finally be fulfilled on May 25 when his new magic museum opens in North Walsham.
Davenport’s Magic Kingdom will be the UK’s only museum of magic, exhibiting the largest collection of magic and allied arts memorabilia in Europe.
The Davenport family collection tells the story of British Magic from witchcraft to modern conjurers, spanning 500 years.
As well as this there will be a Witches to Wonder exhibition, a 30-minute live magic show, a headless lady sideshow and the re-creation of Davenport’s 1915 shop (pictured above) with its very own magician demonstrating magic tricks from the period.
Visitors will be able to see a diverse range of items from a first edition of the Discoverie Of Witchcraft’book published in 1584 (the first book in English containing magic tricks), to a full-size reproduction of Harry Houdini’s Chinese water torture tank (built for the film Death Defying Acts starring Catherine Zeta Jones) and Lewis Davenport’s 1928 Rolls Royce limousine.
They can be “levitated by Paul Daniels” and walk among the Davenports’ collection of ventriloquist’s dolls, magic tricks from the last 300 years, a unique collection of 100 magic posters and prints and tricks and costumes and stage sets that belonged to the greatest magicians in the history of magic.
Davenport’s, situated next to Waitrose, will also include a souvenir and magic shop and a licensed café.

Ticket prices are Wizards and Witches £9.50, Retired Sorcerers £8.50, Apprentice Conjurors £6 and Magic Family £29. Group bookings are available with coach parking, Pre-booking is recommended and can be done online at
