Youngsters from in and around North Walsham will have the opportunity to gain the skills they need to get into work when they visit the town’s Waitrose in September as part of a nationwide campaign to tackle youth unemployment.

Following the success of a pilot project in 2012, the food and grocery industry has launched Feeding Britain’s Future – Skills for Work Month 2013.

Youngsters from North Walsham will take part in workshops with the Waitrose personnel managers on September 17 and 18 covering topics including how to complete job applications, mock interview practice and CV writing.

They will also be given the opportunity to find out about career opportunities in the retail industry and at the end of the workshop, they will be given a certificate to confirm their attendance.

Ashley Broad, branch manager at North Walsham said: “The team here are really passionate about working with young people to help them develop their understanding of the food industry and inspire them in their endeavours to get into the workplace.”
