Aylsham is gearing up to mark The Queen’s 90th birthday with a special street party which promises to be a riot of colour, music and fun.

The ‘bring your own’ lunchtime party will be held on Sunday, June 12, the same day as a street party in The Mall in St James’s Park, London, called The Patron’s Lunch, which The Queen will be attending alongside 10,000 guests.

Everyone in Aylsham is invited to the Market Place event, although full details have not yet been announced and places cannot yet be booked.

Organisers hope to recreate something similar to Aylsham’s six-hour Diamond Jubilee street party of June 4, 2012, which attracted more than 1,200 people and helped demonstrate and define the wonderful modern community in which we all live.

It also provided a historic photograph of the town which we have included here as a reminder of how strongly Aylsham can come together.

That day will be remembered for its massive conga, daytime music and, of course, the toast to The Queen.

More details about the 90th celebrations will be released in the next few weeks – make sure you read your Just Aylsham for updates.
