The newly opened East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop in Holt is proving to be a great success following it’s recent Royal visit – so much so the charity is crying out for donations to help keep up with demand.

Tthe charity’s Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge became the first customer at the new premises at 2 Station Road, Holt, on March 18, where she enjoyed a tour, meet shop staff and long-serving volunteers. HRH was introduced to the two local families who receive care and support from EACH.

Since the official opening the shop has proved to be a great success in the town with regular customers and positive comments from everyone who visits. Stock moving – so quickly EACH is appealing for more donations to keep up with demand!

To put into context the difference just a small donation to the shop can make to the vital work EACH does providing care and support for children, young people and families living with life-threatening conditions, here are some examples of what your donation could pay for:

A top, skirt or pair of trousers worth £5 could pay for art supplies for a session of art therapy.

A tea set worth £10 could fund a nursing care kit.

A nice wedding hat or jacket worth £20 could pay for a support group for siblings.

An item of good quality furniture or prom dress worth £35 could pay for an hour of specialist care.

Laura McKay, EACH Holt Shop Manager, said: “We’ve had a great response from the Holt community since we opened, with lots of customers visiting the shop regularly. One thing we do need is an increase in donations so we’re able to keep up with demand. We’re in need of clean and good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, modern paperback books, toys, jewellery, DVDs/CDs, household linens, retro and vintage clothes and small electrical items to help keep our shelves fully stocked.

“We have spaces at the front of the shop to pull up and a team of willing volunteers to assist with bags, meaning it couldn’t be easier to drop your items in to us.”

The charity also accepts donations of good quality furniture and can collect it free of charge if you’re unable to transport it yourself. You can contact their Retail Distribution Centre on 01842 821620 for more information.
