About with Friends is growing . . .

There’s been some hard work going on down in East Runton and About with Friends revealed the results of that graft today with the unveiling of its new allotment.

The Cromer-based group took over  the overgrown patch six months ago and the plot now bears the fruit (or veg to be precise) of their labours, with runner beans, tomatoes, beetroot and onions in smart raised beds and a greenhouse. There’s a new shed thanks to a £500 donation from East Runton Parish Council, which is also giving the allotment use free of charge.

Today’s official opening was carried out by the woman behind About with Friends, Helen Dalton-Hare, with the ribbon cutting by district councillor Sarah Butikofer.

About with Friends is looking more more volunteers, including a couple to keep an eye on some quail they are hoping to have at the site, and is also after donations of gardening equipment.

Oh, and the cake, made by the workskills group was fabulous!
