A new café at Cromer Hospital means you can stop off for a coffee or a bite to eat without having to go into the hospital itself.

The Mardle café, funded by the Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals Charity, offers hot and cold food – to eat in or take away – to anyone passing by as well as those using the main building.

READY TO GO : John Paul Garside, charity director; matron Anita Martins; Richie, café manager; hospital governor Carol Edwards; Ian Summers, joint owner of Balanced Food; Sharon Grimwood, who named the café; and chief executive Sam Higginson.

John Paul Garside, charity director, said: “We are really excited to have been able to provide this wonderful facility for Cromer Hospital and are keen to see the proceeds from the café go towards further developments for NHS patients in north Norfolk.”

The name was suggested by Sharon Grimwood, Cromer MIU receptionist, who has won a bottle of champagne.

Mardle will be run by the Balanced Food Co, with proceeds to be reinvested into further improvements at the hospital. Staff will be offered a discount.
