The former post office building in Aylsham has been given a new lease of life after its transformation into a new restaurant and bar.

The new business, called Stamp, will specialise in woodfire pizzas and have space for 100 diners. It is due to open on March 16 and is the brainchild of Aylsham residents Vik Khanna, Lorraine Khanna and Sean Cannon.

Sean said: “We had seen how beautifully the Ironmongers was restored and updated recently and we saw a similar opportunity with the old Post Office to breathe new life into an iconic building overlooking the bustling market square.

“Our ground floor has been adapted to become an open kitchen housing our spectacular wood-fired pizza oven that looks out into our ground floor bar area. The upstairs features lovely large windows on three sides allowing for a spectacular view over the square.

“We have retained original features and many Aylsham residents will recall their trips to the Post Office and we hope it will bring back memories and a touch of nostalgia in a contemporary setting.”

“We have raised our families here and always felt that Aylsham was missing a high quality, approachable and spacious restaurant as a point of difference to the lovely gastro pubs located nearby.

“We are all business owners and have extensive hospitality experience. We are creating a space that is approachable and friendly but focused on quality.” Stamp is due to open in the spring and as well as wide variety of pizzas and a range of small plates, it will serve wine, cocktails and locally-brewed beer. Stamp is family-friendly and will cater for children.
