Getting stuck into a good book is the perfect way to pass time and take your mind off things at the moment, and tonight the whole world is being asked to settle down and read a story together.

And people in Norfolk will be sharing their shelves to make it something of an occasion that everyone can join in with.

World Book Night is a celebration of books and the pleasure of reading which happens every year – but this year the sharing and coming together will be even more important with people being encouraged to read a book to someone else over the phone or by video to share the experience.

The Norfolk Library and Information Service is asking everyone to take part by joining in with the #ReadingHour between 7pm and 8pm tonight and then posting a photo of their bookshelf (#shelfie) on the Norfolk Library and Information Service page (click on the blue links to get there) along with the book they choose tonight.

Parents are also being urged to get their children involved – it’s a great way to get them learning from home without even knowing it.
