A woodland near North Walsham has retained a prestigious countryside award.
Sadler’s Wood can once again proudly display its Green Flag Award, which recognises well-managed parks and green spaces.
It joins Holt Country Park and Pretty Corner Woods as north Norfolk sites awarded the Green Flag by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
Virginia Gay, North Norfolk District Council’s portfolio holder for culture and wellbeing, said: “Having well-managed green spaces is paramount for well-being. The benefits of beautiful woodland parks are countless and we’re so fortunate in North Norfolk to have so many award-winning spaces to visit.
“It’s an honour to be awarded the Green Flag Awards again, and we are delighted that our woodlands have such a positive impact on our residents and visitors.”
As part of the Green Flags Award criteria, the council’s green spaces regularly hold community engagement events where visitors can get involved in activities such as treasure hunts or photography competitions.
Volunteers, schools and community groups regularly visit spaces such as Sadler’s Wood where they are taught about the woodlands and help look after them.
Requirements for a Green Flag Award include exceptional management and the provision of an easily navigable and clean space for the community.
