The evening’s celebrations will begin at St Michael’s School this Friday (29th) at 5.45pm, with a procession including lanterns made by children at the town’s schools.

The procession will lead to the market place for a 6pm switch on, followed by the ringing of the church bells.

The switch on will be accompanied by entertainment including seasonal music and carols by the Town Band and The Salvation Army Band, the parish church Christmas Tree Festival and the new Heritage Centre exhibition.

The evening will include entertainment for all ages. Children can enjoy Santa’s Grotto at the Eclipse Hair Salon, fairground rides and workshops in the Town Hall, along with craft stalls, local shops and charity stalls in the Farmers’ Market.
