Aylsham Food Festival’s Saturday celebrations get under way at 8.30am on 4th October with the opening of the town’s FARMA-accredited farmers market.

The London Vegetable Orchestra will be paying their second visit to Aylsham, following on from workshops in the town last weekend. They will have a presentation stall in the Market Place where visitors will be able to talk to them about how they make their instruments from common vegetables. Later in the day, at 12.45 and 1.20pm, the orchestra will be staging two live performances, demonstrating their unique prowess in coaxing a tune out of some of your five-a-day!

The fun’s not confined to vegetables, though, with music from One Foot in the Groove jazz band and the Salvation Army band through the morning. Also on hand, to mystify and amaze, will be magicians from Davenports Magic Kingdom who will be roving through the Market Place demonstrating their magical skills.

For the gastronomically minded, top local chefs will be using local ingredients to cook up some delicious dishes in a series of demonstrations throughout the morning in the Market Place.

While all this is going on outside, members of Slow Food Aylsham, organisers of Aylsham Food Festival, will be in the Town Hall running a series of free family cooking workshops. All the family is welcome and all ingredients, equipment and even aprons are provided free of charge.

A mixture of food and fun, the Food Festival is one of the key events in Aylsham’s calendar. With free parking throughout the town.
