Children and their families in lockdown are being given the chance to become video music stars through a link-up between Sheringham Little Theatre and a top international beatboxer.

Homeskool Beatbox Adventures is a weekly livestreamed interactive show helping youngsters create their own music.

SK Shlomo, who has worked with Ed Sheeran and Lily Allen and played at Glastonbury, will teach new vocal skills, showing children in quarantine how to become Superstar Beatboxers.

SK Shlomo will be teaching youngsters how to beatbox though the Sheringham Little Theatre Facebook page.

Over the course of six weeks, for 30 minutes every Thursday, Sheringham Little Theatre will be playing his free weekly educational show live on its Facebook page, linking up with families in thousands of homes around the world. It is one of 80 music venues taking part in the scheme.

It is combined with a JustGiving campaign aiming to raise £2,500 for NHS Charities Together.

Families will be set creative challenges to raise money by sharing performance videos of their new skills using the hashtag #beatboxadventures. The Homeskool Beatbox Adventures worldwide community will create an anthem – singing, beatboxing and performing together.

Each week SK Shlomo will be joined by one of his talented friends, including Bastille, KT Tunstall, Bill Bailey, Basement Jaxx, Jason Mraz and BBC Radio 1’s Dr Rahda.

Little Theatre trustee, Cate Partridge, said: “We were really sad to postpone our Youth Musical Group’s Easter production of Guys and Dolls, so when we were invited to take part in an online show about believing in yourself and celebrating our frontline heroes along the way, of course we said ‘yes’.  Theatre is all about bringing people together and although we must stay physically distant, it’s vitally important we still connect emotionally.

“We’re asking people to spread the word about Homeskool Beatbox Adventures so Norfolk families have the chance to join with children all over the world during lockdown.  SK Shlomo’s shows always sell out so it’s really exciting for our Little Theatre to take part in this big (and totally free!) project. We really hope interest builds as the weeks go on.”
