Buckets and spades, ice-creams on the prom and award-winning beaches, North Norfolk’s seaside resorts are some of the best in the country – and that’s official.

Keep Britain Tidy has announced that North Norfolk has four award-winning resort beaches, offering visitors great facilities, a litter free and safe environment and, in the case of Blue Flag awards, meeting the highest international water quality requirements.

Flying the flag for North Norfolk’s seaside resorts in 2013 are Cromer, Sheringham and Sea Palling.  All three are continuing the standard of excellence that was recognised with the awards of Blue Flag status last year. And this year East Runton beach has been awarded the new Seaside Award, recognising its high standards of beach management.

Councillor John Lee, Cabinet Member for Environmental, Leisure and Cultural Services, said, “We are delighted that three of North Norfolk’s Blue Flag resort beaches have retained their awards this year and that East Runton has achieved the new Seaside Award. This, following the excellent comments we received in the Good Beach Guide earlier this year, confirms the district as a wonderfully clean, tidy and safe place to live and to visit, with some of the best seaside resorts anywhere.”

Five North Norfolk beaches, these four plus Mundesley beach, were recently awarded the highly sought after ‘Recommended’ status in the Marine Conservation Society’s ‘Good Beach Guide’, which demands stringent water quality standards.
