A group of Aylsham green fingered residents have scooped up a ‘best community garden’ award.

Broadland Housing Association has rewarded the residents of Joseph Clover Court with a £50 voucher for their hard work in transforming their communal courtyard.

“3-4 years ago the place didn’t look very nice and it had a bad reputation”, said Sarah Cubitt. “It was time for that to be changed so we decided to invest in a few plants and bags of compost.”

A few years later and with a lot of effort from the community, the place is looking very pretty and colourful with a wide variety of plants, vegetables and herbs which the residents use for cooking.

The £50 voucher it will be used towards a plastic greenhouse which will help with the seeding of the plants and the growth of more vegetables, such as tomatoes and cucumbers.
