Hundreds of people came along to the North Walsham Big Bash to find out more about local events, organisations and volunteering opportunities.
The Big Bash featured nearly 50 stands providing information and a warm welcome to more than 300 people who attended.

WORKING TOGETHER: There was plenty going on at this year’s Big Bash event.

Comments received from the public included: “Everyone was friendly, approachable and I now have more knowledge of local events” and “As someone who has only just moved to North Walsham it was very informative both with regard to organisations and volunteering opportunities.”
Stand holders were equally complementary, making special mention of the smooth organisation of the busy event, the helpful volunteers, and the opportunity to meet and share information with other organisations over lunch.

Paul Robinson, secretary of the North Walsham Community Network, said: “We are very grateful for the financial support received from the following organisations – North Walsham Town Council, Cherished [charity shop in North Walsham supporting people with dementia and their carers], Paul Bassham Community First Fund and North Walsham Freemasons.”

Volunteering was a theme of the event, and a consultation has been launched to get people’s thoughts on ways of increasing volunteering opportunities. The consultation is for any individual or organisation in North Walsham and it closes on May 31. North Walsham Community Network, which organised the Big Bash, will then explore the results to help meet local need.
