Organisers of this year’s Reepham festival have announced that legendary rock band Big Country are to headline the two-day festival in August.

From 1983 onwards Big Country delivered a series of multi-million selling singles and albums including the classics In A Big Country, Wonderland, Fields of Fire and Look Away.  The 1990s saw them touring with the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Who.  In 1998 they opened for the Rolling Stones on their ‘Bridges To Babylon’ tour of Europe prompting Mick Jagger to comment that Big Country were ‘one of the best opening bands we ever had’.

2007 saw a reunion of the band accompanied by renewed success, endorsed by appearances at the Isle of Wight, T in the Park, Oxegen and V Festivals in 2011 and 2012. Last year saw a major tour with new bassist Derek Forbes, ex-Simple Minds, who was voted Best Scottish Bass player of all time.

‘We’re really pleased to have been able to secure Big Country, especially when they are being scooped up by major festivals across the UK and Europe’ said Festival Chairman Steve Jenkins. ‘It just reinforces Reepham’s growing presence on the festival circuit. Reepham has a reputation for being able to bring in a well-known headline band each year – Big Country continues that tradition and will undoubtedly appeal to older and newer fans alike.’

Around fifteen bands and artists will be performing over the Festival weekend of 9th and 10th of August and ‘Early Bird’ tickets are on sale from Saturday 1st February priced at £17.50 instead of the full price of £20. Discounted camping tickets are also available for a limited period

‘We’re expecting even more people to buy in advance this year’ explained Steve Jenkins ‘partly because the event sold out in 2013 and we had to close the gates early, but also because Big Country are appearing  – which has already attracted a lot of attention through social media such as Facebook and Twitter.’

Details of ticket prices can be found at  and can be bought from UEA Students’ Union at  01603 508050  and at Soundclash, St Benedict’s Street, Norwich,   Very Nice Things, Reepham and from Whitwell & Reepham Station.
