North Walsham Community Shop has been awarded £1,000 from the Norfolk Community Foundation – through the Covid-19 Community Response Fund – to enable it to give more help to local families in need.

The North Walsham Community Shop is working with the North Walsham Phoenix Group and has established an Emergency Grant Fund for those who live in North Walsham and are facing financial hardship during the covid-19 pandemic.

Bob Wright, trustee of the North Walsham Community Shop said: “The Emergency Grant Fund is already providing vouchers or grants to those in need, but the funds from the Norfolk Community Foundation will enable this to be supplemented with essential or urgent food items too.”

Jenny Bevan, head of programmes, said: “Norfolk Community Foundation is delighted to support this much-needed project that will make a real difference in the community.”

North Walsham Community Shop is a registered charity that works with the community to raise funds to provide grants to a wide variety of projects based in the town. It also organises events that improve the town’s environment and the quality of life for residents. Last year it raised more than £33,000 to support its grants to its community.
