A North Walsham-based theatre group says the public’s positive reaction to its Christmas panto has given it a strong platform to build on its work in the town.
New Stages was behind the North Walsham People’s Theatre production of Sleeping Beauty at the Black Swan pub.

The show entertained and enchanted audiences with sell-out shows and has received excellent feedback. A photo of the cast in action appears on the front of this edition of Just North Walsham.
Joseph Ballard, director of New Stages, said: “I am very proud of what we have achieved, employing professional actors to present a top quality pantomime for people in the town to enjoy – sharing the magic of live theatre and the sense of togetherness at Christmastime.
“We have received fantastic feedback and support, which has provided us with a strong foundation to go forward with more plans throughout the year.”
The new adaptation of Sleeping Beauty was written by Joseph, who managed to incorporate all the big news stories of last year alongside slapstick routines.
Stars of the panto included Georgie Matthews as Rose, Simon Michael-Morgan as the villainous prime minister, Beverley Bishop as the Queen and Jamie O’Sullivan as the Duke, Andrew Burrell as Percy and Titania Trust as the kingdom’s fairy.

Local dance school Dance for Fun provided the ensemble with dazzling numbers and costumes.
The panto was supported by the HAZ project as part of its role in promoting arts and culture in the town.
New Stages present shows and classes all year round, including North Norfolk Youth Theatre, acting classes and North Walsham’s People’s Choir.
