Youngsters looking for a new challenge in 2025 are being invited to join a squadron of air cadets in North Walsham.

A wide range of activities are offered by the 2110 (North Walsham) Squadron RAF Air Cadets, who meet at North Walsham Primary School.

Towards the end of 2024, 14 new cadets were formally enrolled by the Squadron Pardre Colin Telfer at a special parade attended by the North Walsham Mayor Bob Wright and several proud parents. Sector Commander, Squadron Leader Kevin Green, took the opportunity to promote Corporal Jack Hurman to sergeant and cadets Jasmyn Wright, Lukas Patton and Harrison Lewis were promoted to corporal.

Flight Lieutenant Alan Stevens, who leads the Squadron, said: “This was the end of a very full year for the cadets which saw them win the Wing six-a-side football tournament. They also attended a summer camp at RAF Cosford and adventure training in the Lake District. Flight Sergeant Sophie Lev was appointed as the Squadron’s first Mayor’s Cadet.

“All the new cadets have qualified in basic first aid and many other qualifications have been obtained in radio, gliding, road marching, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and much more including flying, shooting and BTECs.

“The Squadron is looking for new members who want to experience the many exciting activities the Corps offers.”

Any boys or girls, aged at least 12 (in school year 8) to 17 years, will be given a warm welcome.
