Norfolk & Norwich Festival has announced the dates for Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios 2014, the annual 16-day celebration of the county’s visual arts community – and the invitation to artists to apply to participate is now open.
Each year hundreds of artists across the region invite the public into their private studios to revealwhere and how they work. In 2014 the Open Studios scheme, one of the most successful of its kind in the UK, will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The scheme is run by Norfolk & Norwich Festival in collaboration with local artists and in 2013, 479 local artists welcomed over 32,500 visitors into their workplaces as part of Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios. Art lovers and curious first timers alike were attracted to the scheme with 15 Art Trails andover 200 separate demonstrations, events and workshops by participating artists.
“The Festival is proud to manage and support the Open Studios scheme. Open Studios is a great way to celebrate the work of local artists all over Norfolk, and enables visitors and art lovers to discover the great wealth of artistic talent happening in artist’s studios. It helps Norfolk artists meet artlovers, and just as importantly helps them to sell their work directly to the buyer and long may it continue” said William Galinsky, Norfolk & Norwich Festival Artistic Director.
Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios 2014 will take place May 24-June 8. Artists wanting to take part can, for the first year, apply online at www.nnopenstudios.org.uk. The cost for inclusion in the scheme is £100 for individual artists and £280 for groups of artists and includes a listing in the Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios brochure with a print run of 35,000. Artists will also receive a listing on the Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios website, posters, postcards and the
opportunity to take part in the Central Taster Exhibition at The Forum in Norwich in April 2014.
