A trailblazing project which gave young male dancers across East Anglia the opportunity to perform alongside members of world-renowned choreographer Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company is being expanded.

Legacy was formed after the critically-acclaimed and widely praised Lord of the Flies production at Norwich Theatre Royal in autumn 2014, which saw young male dancers take part in a number of dance workshops across East Anglia.
A number of the male performers who participated were then given the chance to star in the dance production, as well as take part in a number of other exciting projects post-production including performing as part of the Lord Mayor’s Procession Celebrations in Norwich and the city’s Turnstyle dance festival.

Now the group is on the look-out for some new members who will get the chance to work with visiting professionals as well as explore characterisation and professional performance techniques through regular workshops.

Auditions will be held at The Garage on Saturday January 9 for male dancers aged 10 to 25. The Legacy team say those auditioning do not need to have had previous dance experience, and just need passion and commitment to join.

This is the latest strand of work which follows on from Norwich Theatre Royal’s partnership with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and its educational arm Re:Bourne who developed a national campaign to discover talent across Britain by reaching out to communities to show young men that dance could be for them.
