This year is the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth and Norfolk will get the chance to celebrate in style at a fundraising event for a local charity.

The event, featuring dramatised readings from Pride and Prejudice, will be held in the stunning setting of Templewood, near Cromer, and all proceeds will go to north Norfolk-based Hospice Ethiopia.

Tickets are still on sale for the event, which will take place from 3pm on Sunday, July 27.

The readings will feature actors performing two 45-minute acts based on key parts of the novel.

Visitors will be treated to a glass of fizz on arrival (or a soft alternative), and a cream tea during the interval. There will also be period appropriate live music.

Hospice Ethiopia Chair Sue Mumford thanked Templewood’s owners, Eddie and Tina Anderson, for hosting the event. “These fundraisers are an essential part of our work to support the hospice in Addis Ababa, which not only looks after hundreds of desperate patients, but is also a centre of excellence, training medics in palliative care,” said Sue. This is Hospice Ethiopia UK’s third Jane Austen performance and the previous two were sell-outs. “We’re very excited to be able to put on our third Jane Austen event,” added Sue. “If it’s anything like the previous two, it will be a wonderful afternoon!”

Tickets cost £25 each, which includes a cream tea. There will also be a themed raffle.

Tickets are available from Sue Mumford – email info@hospiceethiopia.org.uk or ring 01263 768699. For more information on Hospice Ethiopia, visit hospiceethiopia.org.uk
