Charity concert is a big hit
Local band Backtracking didn’t just bring the house down with their electrifying performance, they also raised vital funds for local charity Aylsham Care Trust (ACT) in celebration of its 40th anniversary, writes Trace Newsome.
With over 80 attendees at the Town Hall on May 31, the evening was filled with laughter, dancing, and community spirit.

TOP NIGHT: Backtracking in action at Aylsham Town Hall.
From the first note to the final encore, the dancefloor was full of folk dancing and listening to all the hits we know and love, from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
The generous crowd participated in a lively raffle, featuring 35-plus donations ranging from spirits and hampers to vouchers and electrical goods.
One delighted guest said: “Wow, what an evening with fabulous music. I have danced all night and look what I have won!”
ACT CEO Philip Macdonald opened the night with heartfelt words, expressing how honoured ACT was to be the focus of Backtracking’s first-ever self-organised charity gig.
Band leader Allan Groombridge later shared his gratitude for the outpouring of support, both from local businesses and the dedicated behind-the-scenes team.
It was truly an evening where music met generosity, leaving a lasting impact on those present, and proving that when passion and purpose come together, the results can be extraordinary.
After the gig, organisers presented ACT with a cheque for £680 and CEO Philip Macdonald said: “ACT are delighted to have been the chosen organisation at Backtracking’s first charity gig. It was a fantastic evening enjoyed by a full house. Thank you, Backtracking, for your support.” See Backtracking’s Facebook page for a full list of their other performance dates.

THANK YOU: Organisers of the gig visited ACT to hand over a cheque.
