Three students from Ormiston Victory Academy have been selected to represent England at the Cheerleading World Championships in Florida next year.

Year 12 pupil Louis was the first to win a bid to compete with his team Brave Allstars with his Level 5 cheer, meaning he will now represent his country at the championships in this division.

Following further tryouts, he was quickly joined on the team by Millie in Year 8 and Beau in Year 9, and the trio will travel to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando next year.

Louis helps coach the cheer team at the Costessey school, sharing his skills and inspiring younger athletes.

Teacher Zoe Bradshaw, who leads the school cheerleading team, said: “Louis’ passion for cheerleading has extended far beyond his own success in the sport and has had a significant impact on school life at Victory.

“As a valued member of our coaching team, he brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to our school squads, inspiring younger athletes to develop their skills and confidence.

“We are delighted that Louis will continue coaching with us next year after completing Year 13, allowing even more students to benefit from his dedication and expertise.

“He is a fantastic role model for our athletes, demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work, commitment, and perseverance.

“His journey provides a powerful example of the opportunities that cheerleading can offer, and we are incredibly proud to see him achieve such a prestigious milestone on the world stage.”

OVA staff said they were proud to have a world-class athlete in the Lord Nelson Sixth Form.

The end-of-season event will feature more than 500 teams from more than 25 nations competing for the title of World Champion.
