Dancers take centre stage
Three young dancers from Drayton will be taking to the stage with the English Youth Ballet this month.
Emilia Uauy and sisters Sophie and Rachel Lee were chosen earlier this year to be part of the company’s cast for Sleeping Beauty at Norwich Theatre Royal.

The girls were selected in hugely competitive auditions in Norwich, with more than 180 dancers trying out for the chance to join principals Ann Wall and Joshua Webb (pictured).
Sophie, who is 14, said: “I started ballet when I was three years old and my mum took me to lessons with my older sister, to see if I’d like it, too. I love the joy of dancing with my friends and being part of a dance community.”
And sister Rachel, 16, said: “The feeling of stepping on stage is one of the best feelings in the world, I think.
“Knowing you can put all your hard work into practice and have fun with your friends is why we do it.”
Emilia, 16, said: “I love showing my hard work and dedication to an audience. I also love performing on stage with friends and being with each other during the incredible experience.”
All three attend Perfect Performers School of Dance and said they hoped to improve their confidence and technique while rehearsing and performing with the EYB’s professional dancers.
Ann, who is playing Princess Aurora, said: “Being part of EYB is an amazing experience for any young dancer.
“I feel honoured to be a role model to the dancers and help give them an insight into the world of professional ballet.
“Dancing with EYB is an experience that will stay with the young dancers forever.”
The ballet will be at the theatre on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26.
