Dial L for larder…

A disused phone box in Blickling has been given a new lease of life helping out families during the coronavirus crisis.

Aylsham Church bought the box a few months ago for just £1, with the idea of using it as a community facility and now – with the help of the Blickling Estate and National Trust – it has been turned into a community larder to help anyone who might need it.

The larder can be used by anyone living in the parishes which make up the estate – Aylsham, Blickling, Itteringham, Oulton and Ingworth – and people are invited to take whatever they need.

The Blickling phone box larder is well stocked with essentials and treats.

Items include tinned goods, cereal, biscuits, fruit and veg, pasta, tea, and other essentials as well as a few treats such as chocolate and crisps.

Anyone wishing to add to the stock can donate by “popping in whatever they can”.

The box is opposite the church and anyone using it is welcome to use the small church car park.
