Every little helps as store backs school
Secondhand books will provide Sheringham Woodfields School pupils with some food for thought, thanks to the town’s Tesco store.
The supermarket had a table of donated books in the entrance, where customers often picked up something to read alongside their groceries.
And it raised almost £3,500 for the school, which was presented by store manager David Short and community champion Sue Lowe.

Headteacher Annette Maconochie said: “This incredibly generous gift equates to a lot of book sales, so thank you to Tesco and to its customers.
“It comes on the back of a donation of more than £6,000 from larger Tesco stores within East Anglia, raised through in-store fundraising during 2025.
“I think we can count Tesco as a very staunch supporter – so a big thank-you from pupils and staff.”
Part of the money will be spent on giving pupils a good start to the day with a healthy breakfast for everyone and the rest will help provide trips and outings and fund new playground equipment.
Sheringham Woodfields School is purpose-built for pupils with complex learning and health needs. It has 160 pupils and more than 160 members of staff.
