Eyes to the skies

Most of us in this area may not have been lucky enough to have seen the Red Arrows flying over today, but anyone looking up near Hoveton this morning will have seen a natural tribute.

Jilly Gourlay captured this sun halo over the area this morning and wanted to share it with anyone who may have missed it.

The sun halo seen over Wroxham this morning.

A halo like this one is caused when light from the sun (or moon) reacts with ice crystals in the atmosphere causing a halo effect. They are quite rare and range from white to many colours and are often described as “rainbows around the sun”.

A fitting symbol for the current times.
