Football tournament is a goal-fest

Hundreds of football games involving 121 teams made the Costessey Tournament the biggest event of the year for Costessey Sports Football Club.

On the last weekend in June, Costessey Sports came together for the highly anticipated Costessey Tournament. For two days the club took over Longwater Park to bring together 121 youth teams from across Norfolk.

With 359 games being played across the two days and a total of 748 goals scored, not to mention the countless burgers and hot dogs being consumed, the tournament was the highlight of the summer for the club.

The tournament was run entirely by club volunteers, friends and family.

A club spokesman said: “Events like this aren’t possible without the work put in by so many and we are always looking for local support to continue the work we do.

“The funds raised from our tournament go back into pushing the club forward and providing a safe and fun environment for everyone to enjoy football.

“A big thank you to everyone who came along either as a player or a spectator and congratulations to the winners. We will see you again next Summer!”
