Free maths and English courses on offer
Local charity The Aylsham Community Trust (Families) has been given the opportunity to offer free Functional Skills courses in maths and English to residents of Aylsham and the surrounding villages.
These courses, offered through the charity’s partnership with East Coast College, are specifically designed for adults who would like to boost their understanding in these subjects.
Functional Skills in maths is based on real-life situations people might meet day to-day or at work. Participants will learn to apply number skills in a range of different ways, with topics including fractions, percentages, ratios, measurements and data handling, in addition to using maths for problem solving. These skills could support you with money management, helping you to better understand your bills, improve budgeting or help you to calculate discounts while shopping. Functional Skills in English would include elements of reading, writing, speaking and listening, and would be helpful if you would like to feel more confident writing an email, filling out forms, completing a job application, or enjoy sharing a book with your child at bedtime.
