Get free support with your energy problems
North Walsham Good Neighbours has joined forces with Citizens Advice Norfolk to get the word out to local people who need support with their energy problems.
Good Neighbours will provide tips on saving energy and money and will encourage those who are struggling with energy debts or monthly energy costs to get advice and support from the Citizens Advice office at 3 St Nicholas Court, North Walsham or by emailing energy@ncab.org.uk

HELP AT HAND: Cassie Beecroft (right) explaining the energy support available to neighbours June Klimowicz and Lillian Amison.
Cassie Beecroft, Chair of Good Neighbours, said: “Although changes in the Winter Fuel Payment affect many older people, others of all ages are affected by a range of energy problems, such as energy debt, being unable to top up pre-payment meters, and having cold and draughty homes.
“We are not experts in these matters, but through our collaboration with Citizens Advice we can ensure that people with such problems get the help they need in North Walsham.”
As well as having regular contact with many individuals in the town, Good Neighbours will be attending public events, such as the switching on of the Christmas Lights, when they can explain the help that is available.
Cassie added: “We are aware that the cold weather and dark nights of winter increase the risk to people’s health and wellbeing, including the impact of isolation and loneliness, so along with the support with energy problems we offer practical help in the home, lifts to appointments, shopping and picking up prescriptions, as well as befriending by phone calls or visits.”
Anyone who needs help (or would like to volunteer) can contact the Good Neighbours on 01692 558321 or email assistance@nwgoodneighbour.org.uk
