Get lost in a good book as Town Read returns
Aylsham Town Read is returning this spring and people are being invited to take part and turn the town into one big book group.
The Book Hive shop is teaming up with Aylsham Library to stage the third running of this popular free event, which will see a Town Read Get Together take place on Thursday, April 24 at the Friendship Hall, in Mill Road (6.30pm for a 7pm start).
The book selected is Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon and Ferdia will be visiting Aylsham to discuss the novel, answer questions and sign copies of the book.
Ben Miller, manager of the Book Hive, in Red Lion Street, said: “There’s no fee to join the book club and it’s open to everyone – so if you haven’t read this wonderful book, now’s your chance! And if you have – read it again and come along and chat about it with friends, neighbours and the author over a glass of wine – all in the great metropolis of Aylsham!”

GOOD TO READ: Ben Miller from the Book Hive with a copy of Glorious Exploits.
Set in ancient Sicily during the Peloponnesian War, Glorious Exploits tells the comic tale of two unemployed Syracusan potters with a soft spot for poetry and drink as they attempt to mount a production of their favourite play in extraordinary circumstances. It was picked as a Book of the Year by The Guardian, The Independent, The Irish Times, The Financial Times and The TLS. It was also the winner of the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction 2024.
If you’d like to take part in Town Read III, copies of Glorious Exploits are available to buy at Aylsham Book Hive at a reduced price of £9, or can be borrowed from Aylsham Library free of charge.
Booking for the Get Together is essential. Tickets are available from the events page of the Book Hive website (www. thebookhive.co.uk) or from the shop.
