The team behind one of North Walsham’s largest events are gearing up to bring another four great days to the town later this month.

North Walsham Funday this year takes place from Thursday, June 27 to Sunday, June 30 at North Walsham Memorial Park. It will feature some of the usual events but also several new items.

Funday chairman Colin Jeary said: “A year’s worth of organising has gone into this year’s event to try and make it even better.

“New features this year include our Big Fab Drag Show hosted by Knuckle Sandwich. We also have a motorbike show on the Saturday, this is being organised in conjunction with The East Anglian Bikers Trikers and Small cc Bikers Club who will also be participating in the parade.

“The star act this year will be The Rockets children’s motorcycle team who have been kindly sponsored by North Walsham Community Shop. The team ranges in age from five to15 and tour all over the country.”

Colin added that local businesses Toll Barn Vets and Guild Healthcare were the main sponsors this year.

L Gray and Sons Funfair will be opening the event at 6pm on the Thursday and the Epic Norfolk 5k Roadrace will be taking place on the Friday at 7pm. Also on Friday is the Big Fab Drag Show at 8pm. This is for over 18s and tickets are available via TicketSource.

On Saturday, there will be a car boot sale from 8.30am to 2pm, plus the dog show and motorbike show, free children’s entertainment from 2pm to 4pm and the carnival parade from 5pm. The day ends with live music with Raw Edge and Buster James from 7pm.

On the Sunday there will be fundraising stalls, crafts, classic cars, funfair, The Rockets Motorbike team, live music and a beer tent on the park from noon to 5pm.

The event is organised by a committee of six and relies on the support of the local community to donate to enable the event to grow year on year.

Any money raised is put into next year’s event. The event costs more than £9,000 to stage each year.

If you would like to help or participate in the parade it’s not too late – contact Colin the chairman via email – You can also visit the JustGiving page for the funday if you would like to donate to the event at
