Excitement is mounting for the Cromer Carnival, which will be filling the town with fun and excitement next month.

With competitions, live music, fabulous food, a car show, a dog show and a gymkhana, thousands of people are expected to flock to the town between August 4 and 22.

The highlight of the three weeks of events will be the Grand Parade on the main carnival day – August 20 – which has changed its route this year.

It will start at the gates of North Lodge Park and wind round the town in the opposite direction from the usual flow of traffic, passing the Morrisons petrol station on its way to the showground on Runton Road.

The new route means fewer road closures, which begin at 4pm and should be over by 7.30pm, depending on the size of the parade.

Other attractions that day include displays by the Red Arrows, who will fly over at noon, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which follows at 12.35pm.

There will also be performances by The Imps motorcycle display team and some jaw-dropping equestrian tricks.

Youngsters will have lots to do during the Children’s Weeks (August 4-8 and August 11-15), and throughout the carnival period there will be fairground rides, the chance to meet ferrets and opportunities to try out their circus skills.

The main carnival week kicks off with a beer festival on Friday, August 15, and ends with a firework display, a crabbing competition and a carnival party on Evington Lawns on August 21 and 22.
