Good progress on new town gym
Building work at Aylsham Sports Hub’s new gym is progressing well, with the opening date scheduled for early summer.
The foundations are now in and huge cranes have been lifting the steel frame into place at the site next to Aylsham High School.
The new 40-station gym complex will be open for community use alongside the existing provision, which includes a swimming pool, 3G pitch and sports hall facilities. The gym will cater for all ages and abilities and will be available to all in terms of pricing and access. Memberships for the new gym will be released in different stages, with existing swimming or all- inclusive members of Aylsham Sports Hub being offered gym membership initially, followed by those who have registered an interest. More details will follow in the next couple of months.
Jo Tuttle, Director of Business and Community Strategy at Aylsham High School, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has so far contacted Aylsham Sports Hub to let us know what facilities you would like to see at the gym. We’ve had a phenomenal response and this will help shape our plans going forward.
“It’s all the more encouraging as profits raised from Aylsham Sports Hub, including the new gym complex, will be used to either improve the sports facilities on offer to all, or will be re-invested into TACT (Families) schools for the benefit of the children, their families and the community. It is a fantastic example of how the different areas of our local community can support each other.”
