Great day out enjoyed by young and old alike
Residents of a Hellesdon care home got to enjoy a day out with some young friends – with the added bonus of a ride in a limousine.
Redlands House, which is based in Reepham Road, organised the trip to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, in Aylsham, for their residents and asked a group of pupils from Taverham High School to come along too. The pupils, as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award, have been visiting the home regularly and have forged relationships with the residents. Their visits are organised by the charity Friend in Deed.
Redlands House manager Laura Ward said: “We thought how nice it would be for the residents and children to go on an outing together. What made it even more special was that the East of England Co-op funeral directors very kindly offered to drive us all in style in their limousines.
“Redwings Horse Sanctuary were very kind and showed us around the sanctuary and gave a talk on what they do and all about the horses.”
Laura added: “Redlands House feels privileged to be working alongside different organisations to make a difference. “People can live well with dementia, with the support of their community, and we are lucky to have a community that is kind, caring and embraces individuality.”

FINE DAY OUT: Residents from Redlands House were joined by Taverham High students for a visit to Redwings.
