Take a step back in time and enjoy this year’s annual History Day at Aylsham Town Hall.

The free event is organised by Aylsham Heritage Centre and will take place on Saturday, September 27 from 10am to 3pm.

The theme this year – ‘Aylsham in WW2’ – has been chosen as a conclusion to the various events that have occurred in the town to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The day will have information about Aylsham in the war, games and activities, and artefacts on display too.

Jayne Andrew, Learning Officer at the Heritage Centre, said: “We will be joined by the British Legion and RAF Oulton, as well as some military vehicles in the Market Place. The history society will also be with us, as will the archivist who is always happy to answer questions or have a look at any Aylsham photographs or artefacts you may have.

“We are also working on a ration book activity which will enable you to collect a ration book, visit shops in the town to obtain your rations, and then follow the recipe to create a war time dish.”

There are a limited number of ration books available for this activity, which has been sponsored by Slow Food Aylsham.
Refreshments will be available at the History Day.
