They say everyone has their 15 minutes of fame.

For Holt dad Garry Wood, however, it was more like a few seconds, but it was on national TV.
Garry’s brief moment of stardom was during the hit show the X Factor, appearing as a spaceman singing during the advert breaks.

Mr Wood filmed himself on his mobile phone singing Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper for one of the BopHeads music videos featured by show sponsors TalkTalk TV.

Talk Talk give viewers the chance to become stars during the breaks by adding their own faces to a range of backgrounds.

Members of the public can become hip-hop stars or see themselves as part of a giant toy-themed sets.

Dad-of-two Mr Wood, 45, said he had been stopped in the street since his brush with fame after decided to send in his video just for a laugh.

“I’ve always wanted to be on The X Factor and I picked a female singer so my video would stand out,” he explained.

The whole family, including daughters Megan, 22, and Caitlin, 16, watched their dad’s TV debut and were soon updating their social media accounts with his exploits.

Anyone can have a go by downloading the Bopheads App from Apple Store or Google Play, choosing their track to sing along to and hit record. TalkTalk will choose the best videos to be broadcast to the nation.
