Improvements set to take place at country park
Proposals for a new visitor centre and café at a country park have been revealed.
The plans for Broadland Country Park will also include improvements to toilets and parking, according to council officials.

PARK LIFE: Improvement plans for Broadland Country Park have been revealed.
A Broadland District Council spokesperson said: “Adding these new facilities, with significant improvements to toilet facilities, parking and accessibility is designed to increase the site’s appeal as an outdoor destination and country park.
“The upgrades will make the park more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, from families to older visitors and those with mobility needs.
“The improvements will also mean visitors will be able to stay longer and explore everything the park has to offer.
“The site also has informal walking trails, picnic benches and a variety of familyfriendly events. However, as the park’s popularity increases, so does the need for improved visitor facilities.”
The council has been consulting with residents and they were invited to give their views at an event at the park from 2.30pm-4.30pm on Friday, September 6. There was an opportunity to view the plans in detail, explore a virtual 3D model of the centre and speak to the project team about the improvements.
Broadland District Council Cabinet member Cllr Martin Booth said: “Our ongoing management at Broadland Country Park has already resulted in significant biodiversity improvements, from restoring heathland to reintroducing the Silver-Studded Blue butterfly and seeing the return of nightjars.
“This project reflects our continued dedication to protecting the park’s natural beauty while creating a sustainable, welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.”
The council says that while working is being carried out, great care will be taken to preserve the surrounding landscape, minimising excavation near tree roots and making sure important trees are protected. Any unavoidable tree loss will be mitigated with replacement planting.
