Young families have the chance to make their own Wonka bar, at a pop up chocolate factory at the Atrium this weekend. Arts North Norfolk will be celebrating Roald Dahl Day on what would have been his birthday, Saturday 13 September. The hour-long workshop (9.30am) will take place at the Atrium cookery suite and will be suitable for 2-8 year olds. The workshop costs £6 per child (accompanying adults come free) and includes all ingredients.

Joseph Ballard, director of Arts North Norfolk said:
“Everyone grows up with the stories of Roald Dahl, either by book or the stories made popular by film. It’s great to mark the occasion – with us leading one of the few Roald Dahl Day events in the region. Our family friendly activity was very popular over the summer and we’ll continue similar events with a different theme each season.”

After the workshop, at 11am, is the monthly family friendly film screening of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. It’s the original 1971 film, starring Gene Wilder as the eccentric Mr Wonka and features the memorable Oompa Loompa songs. Tickets are just £3 and accompanying adults come free. Audience members are also invited to come dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character, and the winner of the competition – you’ve guessed it – will win a scrumdiddlyumptious supply of chocolate!

You can book in advance or come along for the film screening, but prebooking is essential for the Wonka bar workshop.
