Lucy brewer an AS Level student at Paston Sixth Form College has just returned with a team gold medal after representing Great Britain in the World Junior Karate Championships in Poland. Lucy who is studying Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geography came fourth in the individual European Championship last year and managed fifth place in the girls individual 55kg at the world junior event. Lucy a member of the Phoenix Karate School started karate when she was six, gaining her black belt at thirteen and her adult black belt at sixteen. It was a great honour for Lucy to represent her country at world championship level and gain the team gold medal. She not only works hard on her training and College work but also carries out fund raising to cover all her costs. Lucy will compete next year in the European championship in Belgium and later in the world championships in Brazil.

Principal Kevin Grieve said “all the staff and students are extremely proud of her gold medal achievement”.
