Man jailed after assaulting police officer

A man has been jailed for 20 weeks after assaulting a police officer.

Martin Bamford, aged 34, of Trafalgar Court, Mundesley, appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday, November 9, where he pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to provide a specimen.

The court heard how Bamford headbutted a police officer whilst being escorted at the Aylsham Police Investigation Centre on Saturday, November 7. The officer received minor injuries.

The incident happened after Bamford was arrested for the driving offences on Cromer Road, Mundesley, at approximately 5.15pm.
