Market Place celebrated in new exhibition
Aylsham Heritage Centre reopens next week with a new exhibition that celebrates the very heart of the town.
Visitors will be able to find out more about the history of Aylsham Market Place when the centre reopens at 10.30am on Wednesday March 4.

Jayne Andrew, Learning Officer at Aylsham Heritage Centre, said: “The Market Place is the heart of the town and the buildings that surround it have changed very little in their appearance.
“But there have been many businesses, shops, and significant people that have called the Market Place home. So many significant events – royal celebrations, marking the end of conflicts, or coming together as a community – have had the Market Place as a backdrop.”
She added: “To celebrate our opening of our Market Place exhibition, we will be selling raffle tickets, with prizes donated by some Market Place businesses.
“Prizes have been kindly donated by Coxfords, Celebrations, Co-op and Postles, with more in the pipeline!

“These will be on sale for the first few weeks of the exhibition so pop down when we open to purchase yours. A great way to see the exhibition, support the centre and maybe grab a prize too!” The centre also has a very full programme of events for the year. This includes a brand-new willow weaving workshop run by Norfolk Hedgerows, where participants will make a bird feeder. This will take place on Saturday April 11 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. It will cost £33 per person and take place at the Friendship Hall. No experience is needed and all materials (plus tea and cake) will be provided. You will need to book as places are limited. The annual wine tasting event is back in October along with the summer Broads cruise on July 15.
