A result of the solar eclipse, a meteor or an Arctic mole?

Those were a few of the explanations youngsters at Coltishall Primary School came up with when they arrived at school this morning to find a huge pile of ice on the school field.

“It wasn’t there on Friday, so I think it’s something to do with the eclipse,” said nine-year-old Grace Baynes.

The fire service arrived to tape off the area and the school had called in the services of Professor Andrews from the UEA’s environmental sciences department to help the youngsters test the ice.

The mystery deposit will now lead to lots of activities within the school with the excited children keen to find out more about where the ice came from and why.
