Two talented musicians from Gresham’s School have added further musical successes to their string of accomplishments with offers of places in two prestigious national organisations.

Jimmy Jefford 17, has been offered a place in the National Youth Wind Orchestra (NYWO) having been a member of various other national musical groups in the past. Whilst his 15 year old brother George continues his meteoric rise as a musician with a place in the prestigious National Youth Orchestra (NYOGB).

The School is very proud of these exceptionally talented pupils, who are very much at the heart of music at Gresham’s playing in the orchestra, concert band, brass ensemble as well as singing in the Chapel choir and the Schola Cantorum. In addition, Jimmy is now running his own Big Band in the school. Both boys attend the Junior Guildhall School of Music every Saturday in London.

Mark Jones, Director of Music at the Senior School said, “Both Jimmy and George have achieved an incredible amount during their time at the school and it is their hard work and dedication that has enabled them to gain these very coveted places. Both boys have been wonderful to work with and I know they will have an amazing time in these great orchestras.”
