New £1.5m gym opens
Aylsham Sports Hub has opened the doors to its brand-new £1.5milllion gym and spin studio.
An official opening event was sponsored by Ovamill Ltd who built the gym at Aylsham High School. It was attended by members of the local community, sporting groups, and representatives from Broadland District Council and the Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB).
Broadland District Council leader Sue Holland, who is also a member of the GNGB, cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening. This was followed by an event which gave members of the public an opportunity to explore the new community sporting facilities ahead of the gym opening to members later in the afternoon.

A large number of visitors spent a couple of hours viewing the new gym and joining up for membership. The gym will be operated for Aylsham Learning Federation by their non-profit making organisation Aylsham Sports Hub.

In partnership with Broadland District Council, the high school has received £400,000 for this project from the GNGB through the Infrastructure Investment Fund.
Surplus income raised by Aylsham Sports Hub, including the new gym, will be reinvested directly into improving the sports facilities or will go to support initiatives across local schools in partnership with The Aylsham Community Trust (Families).
Cllr Holland said: “This scheme is a wonderful example of how the grant from the GNGB partnership will help not just the Aylsham Sports Hub but also all the other schools and local initiatives that will benefit from the investment.”
Jo Tuttle, Director of Business and Community Strategy at Aylsham High School, said: “We are really excited to be opening this fantastic facility for the residents of Aylsham and the surrounding area and are very grateful to the Greater Norwich Growth Board for their generous donation.”
