Sheringham Woodfields’ sports teams have been kitted out in a smart yellow and blue strip thanks to a donation from the Craig Prior Memorial Fund.

Roger Palmer, a leading light in the fundraising charity, visited the school on December 3 for a kit inspection and to pass over a cheque for £660.

The fund was originally started in memory of local amateur rugby player Craig Prior, who died tragically young, to buy a scrummage machine for the rugby team that he was passionate about. Craig’s brother, Roger, and his fellow fundraisers quickly realised that they could achieve so much more for the local sporting community through their continued efforts, and by these means enrich the sporting experiences of many youngsters, including those with disabilities, in and around Craig’s home patch.

Matthew Smith, business manager at Sheringham Woodfields, said: “We have many sporting teams within the school, including football, basketball and athletics, all of whom will be proud to wear their new kit. We were also able to invest some additional money on PE and outdoor play equipment. We rely on gifts such as this to supply the ‘added extras’ that are so nice to have, and our pupils and staff all say a big thanks to Roger and the Craig Prior Memorial Fund.”
